How to Make a Paper Sunflower Craft
What you need:
- yellow, green, brown papers
- scissors
- pencil
- glue stick
- hemp twine
- tape
Step by Step Tutorial
The Petals
Cut equal-sized squares of yellow paper.
If you cut a strip of paper down the middle, the squares will be easier to cut!
You will want to cut quite a few squares and one circle (for the base of your flower).
Your hands might get tired, but you can do it.
If your kiddo isn’t great at cutting, you may want to guide them.
You are then going to glue them together like a funnel.
Make more of them.
You can start gluing your petals to your circle base.
One next to the other.
All the way around.
Cut two long strips of brown paper.
Fold them in half horizontally.
You are then going to cut slits along the edge of the brown paper.
It could take a while, so make sure you take breaks when needed.
Apply some glue and start tolling the first strip.
Roll this strip all the way.
Add some glue.
And continue with the second brown strip.
Roll it up.
Stick it in the center of the flower.
As you can see, the brown pieces of paper make it look like the inside of a sunflower.
Grab your petals and cut the end of the cone off.
Do this for the rest of the petals.
Glue the second row of petals around the flower.
The Leaves
Draw two leaves on green paper.
Cut the leaves out and apply some glue.
Go ahead and glue them to the back of the flower.
The Hanger
Cut a piece of string and glue it to the back of the flower as a hanger.
This craft can also substitute a wreath on your front door.
You can use a piece of plastic tape to hold your string.
Now you have a beautiful sunflower craft that you can hang wherever you’d like.
You can make multiple flowers!
They will look beautiful in your home or office.
A colorful craft like this will bring lots of happiness to your house.
