Bring some magic to the paper by learning how to draw a unicorn. This step by step tutorial will guide you through 9 steps designed for kids, beginners and anyone who wants to make a cute unicorn drawing.
As with our other how to draw tutorials, this one to comes with directed drawing activity sheet that you can print and use to draw anywhere (or to hand out to your students in the classroom).

We shared a horse drawing tutorial a while ago, and while these two tutorials do share a few steps and have some similarity, the end drawing will be a bit different. I do recommend you check the horse one too, as you can turn that one into an unicorn pretty easy, if you like that drawing better.
Once you are finished with your unicorn drawing, you can even take it a step further and draw embellishments either on the unicorn itself (on top of back leg is a popular spot) or as it’s surroundings. Why not draw a rainbow, or a diamond, stars, flowers or anything else you fancy.

Our How to Draw Book is Here!
A must-have book with just over 100 easy-to-follow directed drawing guides for kids. With a variety of animals, magical creatures, vehicles, foods, plants and more your kids will never get bored.
Step 1
Start by drawing a unicorn head. You can just make a U shape or get a bit more detailed with your head shape.
Step 2
This step requires a bit more work. Let’s draw all the facial details – the closed eye, the muzzle and one ear. The ear needs to be a bit away from the head.
Step 3
Let’s work on the mane. Draw one bit of it between the ear and head. Also make the first part of the main. We’ll be drawing it in segments – this will make the unicorn even more magical in the end when you color it.
Step 4
Draw the neckline and continue working on your mane. Looking pretty cool already isn’t it?
Step 5
Here comes the first pair of legs.
Step 6
Belly and back are next in line.
Step 7
Draw the other pair of legs.
Step 8
Draw the unicorn tail.
Step 9
Last but not least, transform this horse into an unicorn drawing by adding a horn and a few more details on the tail. Congratulations! You just learned how to draw a unicorn.
Color
To add the final bit of magic, color your unicorn drawing. While there certainly are no rules on how to color one, we think unicorns look dashing in with “rainbow” mane and tail.
