Printing with apples (or potatoes) is a blast and kids will love creating their goofy or spooky Jack-o-lanterns.

Oh how much fun kids have with Halloween crafts, it’s one of the most fun holidays after all. And this pumpkin printing activity just hits the spot!

How to Make the Jack-o-Lantern Art for Kids (apple stamping)
What you need:
- pencil (optional)
- apple
- black cardstock
- acrylic paint (orange and green)
- paintbrush
- black maker

Start by cutting the apples in half. Each student will only need one half of the apple to complete this project although, if working with larger group, you can have the kids exchange apples to make the pumpkins bigger or smaller.
With kids who already have good fine motor skills, have them use a paintbrush to paint the apple half with orange paint. If you are working with younger kids (or a group), supply the kids with orange paint on a paper plate, a tray or on something similar and have the kids dip the halved apples in.
Once the halved apple is covered with paint, in one way or another, have the kids press the apple down (the painted side facing down) on the paper.
Have them carefully remove the apple from the paper. The first apple print is done.
Depending on the size of the paper (and apples), have the kids do as many pumpkin prints as they want. The more the merrier.
You can have the kids draw the stem outlines with a pencil (or skip this part).
Paint the stems green. Alternatively, this can also easily be done with a green chalk marker.
Allow the paint to dry before moving to the next step.

Have the kids use black markers (chalk markers work great, but regular markers are OK too) and have them draw the faces on their apple-printed Jack-o-lanterns.
They can make them funny or they can make them scary, the choice is entirely theirs.
