Be it a summer project or just a fun activity to celebrate the sea, pond, lake, and river dwellers, this easy-folded paper fish craft is a fun project to make.
What’s even more fun is that this makes a great group project for the classroom. Just make a giant canvas and have each kid create (and name) a fish of their own.

Fish are a great subject for all kinds of summer crafts for kids. If you have fish lowers at home, they will enjoy this one – to top it up also print some of our fun fish coloring pages or even show your kids how to draw a fish on their own.
How to Make the Easy Folded Paper Fish Craft
What you need:
- colorful paper (blue or white for water, orange, red for fish, green for grass – other colors are OK too)
- googly eyes
- scissors
- glue (older kids can use a stapler as well)
- pen (optional)
Step by Step Tutorial
Create the background – you can work on a regular sheet of (blue) paper or cut a circle – making a tank or an “out of submarine” view for your craft.
Cut sea grass shapes from the green paper and stick them onto your background. Trim if necessary.
For the fish, take a square piece of paper and start folding it – making an accordion fold.
Fold all the way through the paper.
Once folded, fold it in half.
Apply glue to glue the ends together or use a stapler.
Cut small triangles for fish tails and stick them on the background.
Apply glue (school glue or glue gun is best) on the body of the fish and stick it on the background (align the body with the tail).
Gently press and hold in place for a little while for the glue to set.
Do the same with the other fish.
Add googly eyes.
You can also draw bubbles.
All done, your folded paper fish craft is complete.
Make as many as you want!
