Once you nail down these little stars, you won’t be able to stop. It’s so much fun to do for kids because it keeps their hands busy and their mind focused. You can even string them and make a lucky stars paper chain. It’s a wonderful introduction to origami.

What you need:

  • paper
  • scissors
  • ruler

Step by Step Instructions

Once you decide you want to make these Origami Lucky Stars, you may be amazed at how easy they are to make! We’re going to walk you through HOW to make these, so you can make them at any point that your kids get bored!

You will want to start with a strip of paper. Put the color strip of the paper with the color side up! 

Hold the piece of paper flat and bring the right end of the paper over and down to make it look like the picture above.

Now take the bottom end up and over the left end. Make sure you hold it steady with your left hand as you do the hard work with the right hand.

Once you get a loop going, you can go ahead and feed the top end behind, and then you will take it through the hole.

Go ahead and pull the end through the loop, finally, you will want to pull the bottom end to tighten the knot completely.

You will need to tuck the end of the strip inside of the star. If you want to inflate the star, you need to pinch in the corner of the pentagon.

You will do this in between your thumb and forefinger. You will want to rotate each point of the star to help it inflate.

When you are done with this, you will have a very cute and adorable Origami Lucky Star! You can make a whole bowl of these and leave as decor on your table.
