Handprint Peacock Salt Dough Craft for Kids
Handprint Peacock
Materials
- Recipe for Salt Dough
- Carving Tool
- Craft Paints & Brushes
- Wax Paper
- A Cute Little Hand
- Cookie Sheet
- Rolling pin (or cup!)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 250.
Roll the salt dough out to about 3/4 Inch thickness.
Press your participants hand down firmly to create an imprint, lift the hand away.
Use your carving tool of choice to trim away the edges around the imprint, do not leave a border. Use your fingers to create a beak and feather on the top of the head
Bake in the oven for about 1-2 hours, or until handprint hardens
Let cool
To Paint:
Use a turquoise color to paint the whole hand , let dry
Use green to make the body
Paint the dark blue and purple on the fingers (peacock feathers) and face using our photo as a reference. Allow to dry
For the peacock “eyes” use fingerprints!
Press the finger tip in yellow and imprint it on the tip of each peacock “feather” , let dry
Repeat with blue on top of the yellow
