Step by Step Instructions
Creating a DIY puppet is something that most kids dream of. Not only do you get to make a puppet that you can give a voice to, but you get to put it together yourself! You can have a whole friend group of turtle puppets, ready to play at any moment. Let’s get started on HOW to make these puppets, so you can have as much fun as possible!
If you are choosing to color the turtles, this is the time to do it. It is much easier to put the Turtle Clothespin Puppets together after they are colored.
This is your chance to use your imagination and use as many colors as you’d like!
If your child can cut out the turtle themselves, then have them do that during this step. You can also assist the cut out of the turtle by cutting around the turtle in a big square. Then your child can have a smaller piece of paper to hold as they cut.
Go ahead and cut the mouth in two. This may seem like a weird part, but this is what is going to make the turtle talk when the craft is complete.
Now is the fun part! Have your child glue across the top part of the clothespin to allow them to add the mouth!
Go ahead and add the mouth to the clothespin. This is the start of assembling the turtle puppet.
You will glue the body along the bottom part of the clothespin. The idea is that when the clothespin opens and closes, it looks as though the turtle is talking.
