Using an egg carton and some paint, have the kids make the cutest egg cartoon bee craft. This is an easy bug craft that is suitable for kids in kindergarten (and older). With some help, this project can be made in preschool, too, but you will have to cut out the egg cartons beforehand.
These can be made all year round, but the best time to make them is in spring or summer.

How to Make the Egg Carton Bee Craft
What you need:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- egg carton
- paints (yellow, black, and pink)
- paintbrush
- black color paper
- light blue color paper
- black marker
- two googly eyes
Step by Step Tutorial
The Bee
Start by making an outline for the bee’s body. Draw a body shape outline across two parts of the egg carton.
Let older kids cut out the shape on their own. Younger ones will need your assistance.
Color the body with yellow paint.
The Wings
Fold a piece of light blue paper in half, then draw one bee wing touching the fold – this way the kids will get a symmetrical pair of wings.
Have children cut out the shape.
Then, unfold it and glue it to the back of the bee’s body.
The Antennae
Have the kids fold a black paper in half, draw one antenna, and cut it out to get two.
Glue the antennae to the back of the bee’s head.
The Eyes
Have them use googly eyes and attach them to the head.
Using a black marker, draw a smiling mouth.
Paint the black lines with a paintbrush or use a black marker to create the lines on the bee’s body.
Have them retrace the lines once again to make them bolder.
The Stinger
It’s time to create a stinger by cutting a thin triangle out of black paper and gluing it to the bottom part of the body.
The Cheeks
To make the bee prettier, have them paint two dots on each side of the bee’s face with pink acrylic paint.
The egg carton bee craft is ready to take flight in the sky!
Optionally, kids can glue a piece of yarn to the back of the bee and hang it anywhere they like.
