Hand print arts and crafts were always popular with younger kids, I mean who doesn’t love to use their hand as a paintbrush?
We’ve shared an adorable Easter bunny handprint art a while ago, and while this Easter chicken would look pretty cool as an handprint art pressed on paper, the idea of a 3D one that stands on it’s own seemed like a fun one. And so we made one.
How to Make a Chicken Handprint Craft for Kids
What you need:
- black marker (thick)
- white construction paper
- green paper
- toilet paper roll (or other paper roll)
- red paper
- yellow or orange paper
- scissors
- glue
Step by Step Tutorial
Place your left hand spread wide on white construction paper.
Trace around your fingers with a black marker (you can also use a pencil and trace over it with marker afterwards.
Do not trace around your wrist.
Remove the hand.
Complete the shape.
Draw wings (inside palm) and a dot for the eye (on thumb). Draw a few lines for feathers.
Cut out the chicken (cut along the hand outline).
Take the toilet paper roll and cut a smaller roll (about a third of the paper roll).
Cut two slits into the paper roll (one across the other).
Draw a chicken comb on red paper…
And a beak on orange or yellow paper…
And cut them out.
Stick on the chicken head.
Push the chicken into the slits you made on the paper roll.
Cut a strip of green paper. Cut “grass”.
Glue around the paper roll.
Bend the grass.
All done, you have made a chicken handprint craft.
Happy crafting!
