This agamograph will entertain your kids for quite a while and is a perfect project to do in the classroom.

This night and day agamograph makes a great addition to a science project, where kids learn about the change of night and day and the physics behind the change.
It doesn’t have to be all about learning either, this one is a great boredom buster that you can easily use any time of the year.
Agamographs are fun for kids to make, and they make the most wonderful display as the images alternate as you move around the display.
This time the two alternating images will be the night (the Moon with stars), and day (the Sun). You can use our handy template or even draw the images on your own (you can help yourself with this handy how to draw a star drawing tutorial).

How to Make the Night and Day Agamograph
What you need:
- printable template (find it at the end of our step by step tutorial)
- heavier print paper (the regular one is also fine, but the heavier is a better choice)
- coloring supplies
- scissors
- scoring tool (we use a wooden skewer)
- glue
Follow These Step by Step Instructions
Print our printable Night and Day Agamograph Template from the bottom of this tutorial. We really recommend you use heavier print paper, even more so if you will be using the markers to color your agamograph as they will likely bleed through and wrinkle regular print paper. If you are coloring with crayons or coloring pencils you can use regular print paper without worry.
Color the agamogarph with your markers. You can use a light blue marker for the Sun’s background, and a dark blue one for the Moon’s background, but to make the Moon really pop out, choose a black one.
Use your scissors and cut the agamograph along the outer line.
Take your wooden skewer and score along the lines of each alternating image.
Start folding the night and day craft. Turn the whole page face down and start folding the first piece of the agamograph “puzzle” using an accordion fold technique.
Press each piece firmly. Continue all the way…
…to the last alternating image.
Your night and day agamograph is all done and ready for display!
