We adore making different kinds of Spring Crafts (check out our Beehive Paper Craft or try to make your own Flower Paper Bracelets).
And if you like drawing, we got a tutorial that goes well with today’s craft – learn How to Draw a Bee, or even better, have fun with the Flower Coloring Pages.
We did a simple spring project today, and we like to share it with you because we find it so adorable.
It is a flower card with a tiny bee on top of it.
Bees are one of our favorite bugs to craft – we can make them cute and funny and harmless, and we can also prepare so many different personalities for them (just like for this little paper bee you see standing on the flower).
You can write a message inside the card and gift it to someone for their birthday or brighten up their day.
We decided to go with pink this time, and we also made a green one.
So guys, grab your tools, and let’s go!
How to Make a Flower Bee Paper Card
What you need:
- light pink color paper
- dark pink color paper
- yellow cardstock
- black cardstock
- light blue color paper
- circle puncher
- ruler with circle shapes
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- googly eyes
- compass
- a marker (to write a note inside the card)
Step by Step Tutorial
The Flower
On the light pink color, paper draw a circle with a 6,5 cm diameter.
Cut out the circle.
Fold the dark pink color paper in half.
Draw a 1,5 x 2,2 cm rectangle on it as shown.
The rectangle should start from the fold, and then it should go rightwards.
Now glue the light pink circle on the dark pink color paper.
The circle should touch the rectangle.
Now take the ruler with circle shapes and draw seven flower petals. Use the circle with a 3,5 cm diameter.
Cut out the flower using scissors.
Check if the card opens and closes correctly.
The Bee
To assemble the bee, punch out one yellow and one black circle.
Cut out 1/3 of the black circle and glue it on the yellow circle.
That would be the bee’s head.
To assemble the body, cut out four black strips and glue them on the yellow circle.
Make sure you leave equal space between them as shown.
Cut out a black triangle and glue it on the bottom part of the bee. That would be the bee’s stinger.
Take the ruler with a circle shape and draw two small circles on the light blue color paper.
Our circles have 1,5 cm diameters.
Now draw two rectangles (0,5 x 1,5 cm) touching the circles.
Cut out the circles with the rectangles. The circles would be the wings, and the rectangles will help attach the wings to the bee’s body.
Make a tiny vertical cut (0,5 cm) in the middle of the bee. Use the needle of the compass to cut.
Now push the rectangles through this cut.
The wings should look like in the picture.
Flip the bee and glue the rectangles on the yellow circle.
Separate the wings and press them a bit, so they look nice.
Take the googly eyes and glue them on the bee’s head.
Cut out one yellow strip (1 cm wide and 3 cm long) and fold it in a П shape.
Glue the bee on one side of the П shape, then glue the other side of the П shape on the flower.
Wait until the glue dries.
Then make the bee wobble using your index finger.
Write a message of your choice inside the card.
All done!
Buzz buzz, happy spring, everyone!
You can also make the flower in any colors you wish.
We think they look nice.
